Here's what Edgar's students are saying...

    Dear Mr Wong,

I am writing this email to express my thanks to you for what you and Dr Michael Seamer have done with regards to ACFI3004 Taxation.

When I logged into my UoN's MyHub account last night, I was delighted with joy when I found out that I have managed to pass ACFI3004!

It was quite tough for me as I was handling 5 subjects within a trimester during late April-early Aug but thanks to both of your guidance (be it when comes to lectures or tutorials), I'm able to get over this hurdle.

I want to thank you and Dr Seamer from the bottom of my heart and I will not forget all of what both of you have done for me and the rest in ACFI3004 classess that I have attended in UoN.

    Hi Edgar,

This is Manli, one of your F3 students last semester. I asked you to be my referee for the scholarship application last Thursday.

I took the ACCA financial accounting exam in June this year, and got 96 marks.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your careful guidance over the last few months.  My background was in science while I was pursuing my PhD in university.  I am now working as a researcher in a science-related field at NUS, which is completely unrelated to the accounting.

To be honest, when I signed up for your class, my background knowledge in accounting was limited by what I have read in my leisure time.  I love your lectures and it is a pleasure to attend your lecture every week. You made the class an entertaining place to be, to learn, and to laugh! Your words were simple but profound, and you often combined them with real-life examples to explain the theoretical knowledge. As a result, entry-level students like me could certainly understand and master the theoretical knowledge more easily.

More importantly, my enthusiasm for accounting has increased after attending your class.

    Thank you, Edgar!

Best regards        Manli (ACCA F3 Jan 2010)

    Dear Edgar

Good morning. I’m Huijun, your F5 student last semester.

I’m here to inform you that I had passed F5 with 76 marks =)

You have been a great mentor and I would like to express my gratitude for your invaluable guidance and encouragement.  I will definitely miss your lectures!!! Thank you for everything Edgar =)

Anyways, I remembered that you had shown us an investment book the other time in class. The book talks about the ratios of the different companies and they analyze whether the companies are worth while to invest in. I think the book cover is blue in colour. May I have the title for that book?

    Thanks!

Best Regards         Huijun (ACCA F5 Jan 2010)

    Hi Edgar,

This is Teachers' Day and a time to be grateful to all teachers. This profession deserves the special recognition and respect. There is no more appropriate time than this to honour you and others in your chosen field. You have my eternal gratefulness.

    Have a happy Teachers' Day.

    Have a nice day, Regards,       Q (Sep 1, 2010)

    Hi Mr Wong,

Thks to you. I passed F5!                 Zoee (ACCA F5 Jan 2010)

Hi Edgar,  I scored 83 marks on my F3 thanks a lot for your teaching

    Thank you.

Best regards, Amy Tan (ACCA F3 Jan 2010)

Hi my dear lecturers ie. Mr Adrian Hoa, Mr Edgar Wong, Mr Nageb and Mr Paul Tan and Mr Robin Chia.

Next month, I shall be awarded as the Prize Winner (Merit Award) for ATTS exam in 2009 and this achievement came from the quality lectures/education which I received from my lecturers.

U guys had boosted the morale of students and this also inspired me. As such I am pursuing further education in Master of Professional Accounting in July 2010 instead of an MBA in Hospitality Management where my strength lies.

A big heartfelt thank to you all.

                              Magylic (ATTS 2010)

    Hi Edgar,

I am pleased to receive my result of 90 marks for my F3 paper.

I am grateful to all the interesting lessons I had with you on Thursday evening classes.

Thank you for your kind guidance!!! :))

Hui Jun (ACCA F3 July 2009)

Hi Edgar, I'm Melisa from your F3 class last sem. Hope you still remember me. :) A very big thank you to you for helping me (to) pass my F3 smoothly.

I got 83 marks, might not that satisfactory for you, but I'm happy with that. Really grateful to have lecture(r) like you. Thanks. Regards.

         Melisa (ACCA F3 July 2009)

    Hi Mr Wong,

Would like to say thanks for the lectures u have given.

After attempting all the questions in the practise kit, I took the CBE yesterday and passed it at first go.

I want to express my heart-felt gratitude to u, i feel that your style of teaching suited me well and i was wondering what are the other modules you will be teaching for the coming semester that i might be able to join your class.

Regards,       Jason Lim (ACCA F3 Jan 2009)

Hi Edgar, Thanks to your excellent teaching, I passed the Dec F3 Exam with 92 marks.

I feel lucky to be your student. All the classes I attended helped a lot. Please carry on your style and I'm sure all your studends would appreciate the great deal of knowledge you impart to us.

Best regards,           Cristabel Li (ACCA F3 Jul 2008)

Edgar, You do not have to "vomit blood" liao, I have not disappoint you.

Your patient guidance and hard work effort on us has paid off. Till now, I still cannot bring myself to believe that I have score 98% pass in CAT-T1 (though no big deal).

I still do not know which stupid mistake that I had made to lost that 2 marks. The first thing that I thought of when I received the result from the invigilator was to inform you - My wonderful and cheerful lecturer - Mr Edgar Wong.

Thank you so much.  My salute to you.  The result is yours.

I have never ever attended class without having to drag myself going till I attended yours.   I will always bear in my mind your words of encouragement to us during the first T1 lesson on 01 July 2008.  I learned a great deal during this short 13 lessons with you.  Coming to class has never been easy for working adults like us, we need to bear with the hunger and the bore "three hours studies" after a long 8-10hrs office work.

True enough, I really feel very sleepy sometimes.  But, you always manage to wake me up with your comprehensive and humour lectures not forgetting your "cute" laughter (like a small innocent boy).

Once again.  Thank you so much.  You are really excellent!.

                  Angela Ng L.H. (CAT1 July 2008)

    Hi Edgar,

I am Jonathan Yap whom attended your lecture during January intake.

I had passed my F2 paper by CBE today.  Although not with flying colours but I'm glad to pass through my first step.  Thank you very much in your guidance to us and much appreciated.

Thank you.        Jonathan (ACCA F2 Jan 2008)

Greetings Edgar, Lessons taught at your F2 class was really comprehensive. I am also glad that your notes and practice questions really helped alot. I had just completed my F2 and I've got 83

Many thanks!              Shawn Yeo (ACCA F2 Jan 2008)

Your Student from F2 night class  “…¡ really really a big thank you to u. i got 94 for F3. =D

Many thanks."          Sok Ching (Jul 2007)

"Hi Edgar, Just logged in to the ACCA website to check my F3 exam result....I got 86

Just want to say thank you for your repeat reminders on the important points and for the extra (free) revision class given going through all MCQ."

Mei Hua (ACCA F3 Jul 2007)

"Thanks Edgar! I got 72 for F3 (June 07 intake)! Thanks so much for ur effort! Without your constant revision and reminders i wont hv passed as i really had no time to study!

I write to say I appreciate your effort that you put on me and help me during my exam week. I want you to know that this result was made possible largely through your tutoring, encouraging and caring me.

    Thanks a lot."

                            Shypoir (CAT T1 & T4 Jan 2007)

"Dear Mr Edgar, I don't know how to express my gratitude towards you, but I have to say that you did put in a lot of effort on us.  Many thanks to you!

    Best regards,

       Ms Tan L. H. (CAT T1 Jan 2007) P/S - Top CAT1 student for the batch.

"Hi Edgar, Just want to drop a mail to thank you for helping me to pass my 1.1 paper.

I got 90%!  I know you have been putting in a lot of effort on student. So far you are the one that spend most of the time with student. Giving enough time for student to think and try in the class. That really help in building up confident of student rather than just quickly come out with the answer. especially for account dummy like me (have my study in mechanical engineering before).

Once again, THANK YOU and keep it up with your hardwork!"

Your student, Bong (ACCA P1.1 Jan 2007)

"Edgar, I just wanted to thank you. For someone coming straight from work, I find your class interesting and engaging.  Prevents me from pulling GE = sleeping in airforce."

Billy Choo (ACCA P1.1 July 2007)

"Hi Edgar, Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks after the exams were over for all the effort you made in class to help us understand P1.1.  It was a pretty fun time being there despite my new-ness and difficulty in the field."

                    Paul (ACCA P1.1 Jan 2007)

"Hi Edgar,   I like to thank ya for the effort and time ya bestowed on us. I truly acknowledge the hard work and dedication in teaching us, even though it was hard enough especially for block heads like me. :) Thanks once again."

                     Sandh (ACCA P1.1 Jan 2007)

"Dear Edgar, Thank you again. This is the first time in my life when I get teaching which exceeds my expectations :o)"

True..   Yana (ACCA F3 Jan 2006)

    Dear Mr. Wong,

My name is Nushrat and I am one of your I.IJ (revision class) student. I am a student of Singapore Accountancy Academy as well but this is the first time I am joining your class.

I have already attended the first lesson and I think you have a brilliant approach to make everybody learn the concept and actually "apply" it in examination question."

Nushrat (ACCA P1.1 Jan 2006 Revision)

I passed!!!! suprisingly......i din expected it as i am very tied up with work. Anyway i really appreciates your devotion and determination so education in a professional way.

"I got 62 marks for Paper 1.1. Very heng.. I really like to thank you for making the lesson so interesting. I really appreciate it. You let me understand accounting but not memorize accounting.
